Celebrating our son's first birthday was also a celebration for us surviving the first year as parents. It was a "Where the Wild Things Are" theme that captured all the great illustrative and adventurous qualities of the book. Check out all the fun decorations I created for the event.
I drew my son into the iconic "Where the Wild Things Are" forest illustration by creating a large 4 ft by 12 ft outdoor banner.
I made Max's boat out of cardboard boxes and duct tape.
I illustrated the "Where the Wild Things Are" style leaves out of various shades of green paper and strung them along our pool fence with green twine.
I created a mixture of different leaf prints for his name Marquee.
Of course my outfit, a leaf print romper, needed to fit the theme of the party.
Neon is the perfect addition to the upcoming spring season. I designed a flower arrangement that goes perfectly with my Neon Florals collection.
I went to the Grammys last night and it was pure magic. The style of the event was very Art Deco 1920s. The after party showcased a lot of the glitter and shimmer of the Jazz Age. This stunning event would have paired perfectly with my Gatsby collection.
I wore a vintage mermaid style gown covered in Black sequins.
My wonderful and very talented friends threw me a baby shower. It was a beautiful and fun affair filled with laughter, love and amazing handmade decorations. The theme was Little Man. There was a focus on cute little mustaches and the color palette, Grey, Teal and Yellow, which matched our own nursery for our soon to be little man.
There was a "MAKE THE LITTLE MAN LOOK DAPPER" Onesie and Bib decorating Station.
Of course I wore high heels. Metallic silver wedges.
I gifted my generous hosts with custom tote bags that I created with their faces drawn on the front.
Our soon to be baby boy's nursery. The color palette for the inspiration was Teal, Yellow and Grey. I found Ikat yellow wallpaper and cut out the shape of the mother Giraffe and baby Giraffe and adhered to the painted wall. I also painted some wooden spice racks to create the freestanding bookshelves.
My husband's birthday took place right when I was 12 weeks pregnant, so we thought what better way to announce my pregnancy then to surprise our friends with the birthday cake. I had way too much fun designing and decorating this cake. My first real venture into the world of fondant. Thank you to the amazing folks at Duff's Cakemix who loved the design and posted it on instagram.
I was so honored to be a part of my best friend's stunning wedding at the San Diego Museum of Art. I created the couples watercolored illustrated Save the Date and custom paintings featured on Martha Stewart weddings.
With the beautiful bride. I made my neon pink belt and sewed on the crystals. I also altered my dress so that the pink ombre hemline matched the vibrant style of the wedding.
